Illinois sets up fund to help purchase defibrillators

By the year 2009, the state of Illinois requires public places like schools, park districts, and universities to have automated external defibrillators, or AEDs.

The Mid Central DHB is placing 20 automatic external defibrillators in places like picture theatres, swimming pool complexes and other areas where traffic is likely to occur.
 
Defibrillator sends electric shock to revive heartbeat. It is designed to recognize irregular heartbeats, so it can not be misused or used to shock someone with a normal heartbeat.
