Son of legendary swimming coach James ‘Doc’ Counsillman dies
Brian Counsilman, son of well-known Indiana swimming coach James ‘Doc’ Counsilman, passed away on Tuesday night around 8:30 p.m. at Bloomington Hospital. An automated external defibrillator was used on Brian, but he finally passed away at the Hospital.
Brian, who was working as a swimming coach for the Bloomington North High School, was swimming at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center located at the Indiana University campus around 5 p.m. According to Indiana University Police Lt. Jerry Minger, Brian had no pulse at the time he was pulled out from the swimming pool. Emergency personnel immediately used one of the automated external defibrillators on him and even gave him CPR. He was then rushed to the nearby Bloomington hospital, where he did regain his pulse for some time. However, he finally died after some time.
